Charlotte bankers
I have driven myself to Charlotte, NC to help my sister with her move. She starts her new job tomorrow morning as one of the many young financial-services types. I am sitting in her new apartment now. The apartment is beautiful. The building may not fit my taste. It is essentially a yuppie dormitory. I don't mean that to sound derogatory at all -- think about how much fun it would be to live with dozens of single like-minded people -- to just embrace your yuppie-ness and ride it to the logical conclusion.
I'm excited for Cari. She is putting her signing bonus money to good use, outfitting her apartment with nice things (something I didn't do until earlier this year, and not as nice as this). She starts training for a good job tomorrow, and I have yet to meet anyone to has failed to enjoy bank training. I just have a good feeling about her chances for a good thing here in Charlotte.
All of this has made me want to finish my degree, find a job, and get back into the professional world. Seeing this come together has made 9-5 seem somewhat appealing. And of course, I can't let my little sister get a leg up on me. Unfortunately, I am motivated in an abstract way, and not in a sit-down-and-actually-do-something-about-it way.
So do you recommend Charlotte? I've lately been thinking I need to move south. I don't think Jim wants to go south of the Mason-Dixon but Charlotte is actually very appealing to me. I think we'll settle on DC, since I do adore the DC area, but...what do you think of Charlotte, from what you've seen? And is it an affordable place to live?
