Merry Christmas

Happy Festivus to everyone. For my part, I certainly had a wonderful christmas. I must have been very good this year.
Shopping went well for me this year. Shopping for me is like ripping a band-aid off my arm. I stew and worry about it for too long. I create a plan of attack and set out to get it over with as quickly as possible. Sometimes things go quickly and painlessly, sometimes they do not. I was able to get what I needed quickly this year, without the other shoppers getting to me. What else can you ask for? Oh, and everyone seemed to like their gifts -- I guess that is important too.
I got a surprising phone call yesterday. The Champaign police called the house (here in st. louis). The officer introduced himself and told me that he was standing in my living room. A patrol had found my front door standing wide open, and a closer look revealed that the deadbolt was cut from the door and sitting in the middle of the floor.
A yuletide break-in. Somebody is getting my television for christmas. The good news is that the TV is all that seems to be missing -- so things went well, considering. Of course, I have not been to the apartment. I only know what the police have told me.
Maybe this is fate's way of telling me to spend my free time a bit more productively.
