your next life, maybe. who knows?
Workout Change
Having been chased indoors by the impending winter and by the utter monotony of the Illinois countryside, I am adapting my workouts. The latest change involves lifting for the first time in ages. That means that I'm going through the pains associated with the first few workouts. I started a few days ago, and was surprised to find that I wasn't sore. To be honest, I was pretty proud of myself. Of course, when I woke up the next day, I could barely straighten my arm. There is only one thing that helps with the soreness -- working out more. At least that is advantageous.
Grade News
My kinematics professor today asked us what we wanted him to cover for the rest of the semester. I guess he is taking advantage of the small class size (there is only six of us) to make sure we get what we want out of the class. He assured us that we shouldn't worry about what was easy or what was difficult -- because we were all performing well, and should in no way worry about our grades. Oh, and he wasn't thinking that he would write a final -- maybe just another assignment to finish that last week. All of this, and I'm actually learning quite a bit from the class.
Iraq Casualty
I'm sure that you have heard about the helo that was shot down in Iraq a few days ago, with more than 20 people aboard. The pilot of that vehicle graduated from my department last year. I obviously didn't know the guy, and have no more an emotional reaction than the rest of you. But it is the first personal connection that I've had with this war in Iraq. Evil doers attach a building full of investment bankers in NYC and I have half-a-dozen friends directly involved. Hundreds of thousands of troops are sent to the mid-east, and none are from my peer group. Hey, it is just as well -- I am not going to complain if we are spared that experience.
The Battle for Zion
The last Matrix movie comes out tomorrow. I get a big geeky smile on my face thinking about it. I'm going to go out tomorrow morning and try to get tickets.
